Over the past year, our community has been impacted by the loss of five incredible activist women who dedicated their lives to the fight for justice and equity through their work with the Young Lords & Black Panther Parties. We are organizing this fundraiser to seek community support in holding a memorial service at The People's Church in East Harlem, NY on Saturday, October 24th, 2026. Funds raised will cover the cost of the rental fee, paper supplies, flowers, refreshments, program printing, as well as assistance with airfare and ground transportation for long distance family members.

This service will be held in remembrance of:

Dr. Johanna Fernandez (1970-2026)

Denise Oliver-Velez (1947-2026)

Minerva Solla (1951-2026)

Connie Cruz (1943-2026)

& Cleo Silvers (1946-2025)

We sincerely appreciate any contribution you can make to support this event celebrating the lives and legacies of these revolutionary women.
