Support a Transgender Latino in Finding Freedom

Hello, my name is Edrei, and I'm a transgender man from Venezuela. I have been living on asylum in America for 3 years, and, due to the current situation with the country, am concerned about my safety as an immigrant and a transgender person. In order to protect myself, I have to leave. There's nothing I can do from here because there is no Venezuelan embassy in America. So, I have to go to Mexico to get my passport. I am raising money in order for me pay for the legal fees to request the new passport, cover the plane trip and be able to afford food and a place to live while I wait for my passport and figure out my situation in a new city.

As someone who is 21 years old and living in New York City with a service job, the small savings that I do have cannot cover all of this. I have no parental support since they have passed, and the family that I have remaining here refuses to support me and is still in denial about the current situation of this country. A luxury that I cannot afford.

Any support is very helpful and greatly appreciated, whether it's donations or sharing my story. I literally would not be able to achieve this without help. Thank you so much for reading this and supporting me.

Hola, me llamo Edrei y soy un hombre transgénero de Venezuela. Llevo tres años viviendo bajo asilo en Estados Unidos y, debido a la situación actual en el país, me preocupa mi seguridad como inmigrante y persona transgénero. Para protegerme, tengo que irme. No puedo hacer nada desde aquí porque no hay embajada de Venezuela en Estados Unidos. Así que tengo que ir a México a obtener mi pasaporte. Estoy recaudando dinero para pagar los gastos legales de la solicitud del nuevo pasaporte, el viaje en avión y poder pagar comida y un lugar donde vivir mientras espero mi pasaporte y resolver mi situación en una nueva ciudad.

Como alguien de 21 años que vive en la ciudad de Nueva York con un trabajo en el sector de servicios, mis pocos ahorros no alcanzan para cubrir todo esto. No cuento con el apoyo de mis padres porque fallecieron, y la familia que me queda aquí se niega a apoyarme y sigue negando la situación actual de este país. Un lujo que no me puedo permitir.
