Hi time travelers, my name is Doug.

 

3 years ago, with the support of a small and mighty group of Tisch grads and some duct tape, I wrote and performed an award-winning solo play at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. It's inspired by (among other things) my work at Griffith Observatory , where, since 2016 I've narrated the live planetarium shows. The show is a love letter to the universe. It's a sci-fi / action-adventure nerd's dream. But much more than those things, it's a deeply personal investigation into an important theme: the hunt for meaningful human connection.

COVID upended the arts in 2020. It's now been 1134 days, or 3.11 Earth years since this time machine last took flight. 

I'm proud to say we're back again, this time with a dream team of keen-eyed artists: Abigail Deser (Steppenwolf theatre, Los Angeles Philharmonic) as director, and Jaymi Lee Smith (Oregon Shakespeare, South Coast Rep) on lights. With your support, our show makes its international debut this August for a 22-show run at the world's greatest theatre festival, the Edinburgh Fringe.

 

The show needs money to be the very best version of itself. Money to help fly the team to Scotland. Money for the venue, the posters, programs, flyers, advertising, insurance, and wooden nickels (yes, we're bringing those back.)
