"A Time to Heal"

Ray Hughes is a treasure.  Husband to Denise (44 years married!), Dad to three grown children, and Papa to five grand babies.  Spiritual Father and Faithful Friend to countless.

If you’re here, chances are you’re one of those countless friends or spiritual children.  Or maybe you’re one of the thousands of people whose life has been impacted over the years by Ray’s message or by his music. Either way, you likely know Ray to be a true creative, a poet-prophet, a futurist-historian, a story teller-revelator, a songwriter, and a generous sower of ideas and instruments to worshippers around the world. If you’re here, chances are you know Ray.  And on behalf of Ray and Denise, God bless you and thank you for wanting to help.  Their need is urgent.

2020 marks Ray’s 48th year in ministry.  2020 has also brought an unexpected diagnosis that is changing the way he now does life, family, and ministry:  Stage 1 Multiple Myeloma.  Multiple Myeloma is regarded by the medical world to be a rare form of blood cancer.  According to doctors, it is not curable.  It is treatable.  With the right treatment plan, medications, and lifestyle changes, along with the power of the cross to heal, this diagnosis does not have to be a death sentence.  We are hopeful and pursuing complete healing.

So far, Ray has endured a year of excruciating back pain, a broken back (a manifestation of the multiple myeloma), sudden weight loss, and loss of strength.  He has had surgery to repair his broken back, multiple tests, scans, and biopsies. He is still experiencing considerable pain.

Here is the good news:  Although it appears the cancer has been in Ray’s body for well over a year, his kidneys, liver, and lungs are healthy.  The cancer has not affected any of his major organs and there are no lesions in any other bones.  That is a significant victory!

But the battle is not over.  In many ways it’s just beginning.  The disease in Ray’s blood is  looking for a place to gather and cause even more harm.

The full healing and treatment plan is being put together now.  Ray and Denise are planning to use conventional and non-conventional treatments for Ray’s body, in addition to continually pursuing and appropriating physical, spiritual, and emotional healing offered through the cross of Jesus.

The expenses for this journey are astronomical and, at this point, Ray and Denise have not secured insurance that covers any of the prescribed treatments and medications.

While they are daily trying to remain positive and stay in an offensive posture as they trust God for healing and strength, Ray and Denise have not been traveling or working since COVID-19 quarantine began, and are not physically able to work now.
