A Time To Heal For Alison #aidforalison

Most of you probably don’t know my mom, Alison Miksch, but those who do, know that she’s many things – smart, passionate, opinionated, funny, a loving mother, daughter, and supportive friend to many. Her love and devotion to her family is immeasurable and she means the world to us.
She’s also devoted to her 91-year-old mother - my grandmother – who has dementia and lives at a nursing home close to mom. She spends every non-working hour doing all she can to help my grandmother stay motivated and engaged, and ensuring the medical staff stays on top of all her medical needs.
Mom is a 2-time, 28-year breast cancer survivor who went through a double mastectomy, chemo, and radiation therapy twice when my sister and I were very young. She pulled through because she is an incredibly determined and resilient woman. But now she has more medical issues she needs to address and that’s why I found it necessary to create this page. Mom needs our help.
Mom has been living with an extreme deformity of her right foot. It’s gotten to the point where she can barely walk without being in pain. And the deformity, a bunion, has started to create other issues with her other toes, bones in her foot, and her gait. So surgery has been scheduled to correct the problem.
The problem is that the company she works for provides absolutely no health insurance, medical leave, or paid time off. The insurance she obtained through the ACA has an incredibly high deductible that needs to be paid along with the co-pays for her MRI’s, X-rays, and surgery. She’s also looking at a 3-month recovery time after her surgery, so on top of her medical bills she’s going to need help with living expenses too.
Anything you might be able to contribute to help my mom with her medical expenses and her living expenses so that she can focus on healing and fully recovering before getting back into the workforce, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Asa
