A ticket to my dream

Hello, my name is Yaël. I am a bilingual writer. My mother is English and my father is German. I have always made sense of my emotions and the world around me by writing about it. Today, I am a freelance screenwriter living in Cologne. But I have always felt more alive and at home when I was in England or in America. Now I have the opportunity to go to New York. I was accepted to the TV Writer's Studio at the LIU. Sadly, however, I have no way of paying for it. It is my dream to reach people with my writing. I want to make them laugh, make them cry and make them forget for a while that the world is filled with dark places and with people who take what they want without regard for anyone else. I want to give them hope, and I feel like I have an obligation to do so, as my Jewish grandma managed to escape on the kinder transport and made a new life for herself in England. Without her bravery, I wouldn't be here today. I'm thankful for anything you are able to give. Thank you very much.
