My name is Nirmaliz, and I' m a doctoral student at Columbia University on schedule to graduate in May 2019, but first, I need to finance my dissertation study. To make this happen, I need 35 Chromebooks, a charging/storage cart, and one hotspot for a school in Salinas, Puerto Rico.
This project is near and dear to my heart for several reasons. Not only is it the cornerstone of my dissertation, but it will also help an under-resourced school in the community where I grew up that was hit by Hurricane Maria a year ago.
The ultimate goal of this research is to contribute to the development of innovative applications that expose students to computer science education. But the immediate joy of this project is that middle and high school students in Puerto Rico will experience the excitement of participating in this study and be gifted with 35 state-of-the-art laptops for their school.
