Ireland is now dominated by 17 billionaires, with the top ten alone holding €31 billion. This includes tax-dodgers, super-exploiters and beneficiaries of state contracts. This is the legacy of Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil governments, who protect the profits of these economic elites.
I want a fundamentally different Ireland. To end the housing & homelessness crises; to seriously address climate change; to properly fund physical and mental healthcare services; and to defend jobs and fight for a €15 minimum wage, we can't rely on funding from landlords and billionaires.
A movement for real change, that is always independent from the interests of landlords and billionaires, can only be funded by people like you - workers, women and young people, who need a voice inside the Dáil, consistently challenging corruption and cronyism, exposing all forms of inequality and championing social movements and trade union struggles.
As a TD I led the campaign that defeated water charges in Cork. I stood with Leeside residents and successfully fought vulture fund evictions. I have used my seat in the Dáil to support workers fighting for better pay and conditions, including ambulance paramedics, nurses and midwives, transport and postal workers, and many others. Working alongside Ruth Coppinger TD I fought for Repeal and pro-choice legislation and for LGBTQ+ rights and recognition. I have spoken in support of decriminalising medicinal cannabis and against the abuse of animals through fur farming and wild animal circuses.
