Sin Mordaza is a two-song, double feature music video that is also a short film for the band, Tapaboka.

Tapaboka is a femme-led, queer punk band from Puerto Rico with a license to kill. They are an up-and-coming Puerto Rican punk band that looks to use their music as an outlet to highlight the tough social reality of Puerto Rico through a feminist lens. Fronted by three ruthless femmes, Tapaboka wields their sonic intensity like a sword, and they’re out for blood.

The directors Ana Paula Teixeira and Andreas Feliciano have joined their creative visions to produce a 10-minute short, breathing life into the band’s ferocious songs: La Ley & Puto Violador. This double-feature is titled Sin Mordaza, a place where rowdiness and the macabre culminate in euphoric catharsis for Tapaboka.

La Ley is about the mayhem that ensues when Tapaboka embraces breaking the rules at their strict Catholic school. Tapaboka rejects repentance and forges their own path. References: Lick the Star, The Craft (1996), 400 Blows, Ladybird.

Puto Violador explores the emotional aftermath of suffering sexual violence in a sensitive, stylized manner—relying heavily on visual symbolism to avoid graphic or triggering imagery. This surrealist fantasy is an imaginative take on what achieving closure may look like for victims. The short will be filmed in black and white, with red as the only standout color. This color palette places greater emphasis on contrasts, shadows, texture, and tone. Furthermore, the stark visual choices create a sense of emotional distance, lending the film a more haunting, almost surreal quality. The main inspirations behind the visual styles are: film noir, German expressionism, and French new wave.

We have a predominantly queer team of creatives working on the production, such as Raul Abner Samrah, Jeannice Mustafa, Luna Olivier García, Arturo “Pancho” Cordova, Maria Luisa Marín, and more.

We are raising 7,000 dollars to help with production costs for 4 days of filming of the two music videos.
