Hi my name is Steve. I am trying to raise funds to help up get through a delicate time. Carl was diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumour and was given a short time to live. Dr’s suggested he would pass by the end of July 2023. Carl has battled through and is still with us. In the lead up I had exhausted my leave with employer. Initially Carl was in Bendigo Hospital waiting for a bed with hospice. Once he was transferred things changed for us. Mum had a fall and was unable to help carl, as I said he is a tall man with a great beard. The hospice room was sad really. Dark, old and outdated. Carls wish was to die at home so I made the decision to try to make it happen. My employer was understanding and allowed me to leave immediately so I hit the road from Melbourne to Bendigo. It took a bit but we managed to get carl home. Things are sometimes tough from a care point of view however I stand by my decision to help. Carl treated my mother with the utmost love and respect and care for the past 35 years. I couldn’t not help him get home where he felt most at ease. I have never in my life asked for a hand out so this is tough for me. I am reaching out for help. We need to keep the lights on so to speak. I have bills to pay at my place as well as here. Mum is on a pension and carls super is diminishing fast. Anything to assist us would be a help. I will be happy to supply whatever evidence necessary. The title comes from the two comments Carl gets when people meet him. He is gentle and kind and has had an impact on people who he has met through this journey in hospital and hospice. Many strangers would approach me to tell me that he is a legend. Help me to continue to help carl be comfortable at home please. Steve.
