Hi everyone,
My name is Chieh-Hann “Jay” Chang, a contemporary dancer and creator from Taiwan.
After years of performing across Europe and Asia — from the Hofesh Shechter Company in the UK, to the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company, to theatres in Paris, Copenhagen, and Lyon — I’ve made a brave decision:
I moved to London to rebuild my life and to grow roots as an Asian artist.
London is one of the best places in the world for contemporary dance.
It is also a place where diversity, identity, and artistic voices collide and reshape each other.
Coming here is not just about my career — it is a step toward building a true artistic home, one I can share with the world.

Why I’m Asking for Your Support
Moving to London as a freelance artist is exciting, but also very challenging.
As an Asian dancer working abroad, I face:
• High living costs in London
• Studio rental fees for my creation & training
• Visa-related expenses
• Transportation for auditions, rehearsals, and performances
• Costs to film my choreography & build my portfolio
• Basic living expenses during periods with no guaranteed income
Your support will allow me to survive, create, and collaborate — instead of just struggling to stay afloat.
⸻
Why This Journey Matters
There are not many Taiwanese or Asian contemporary dancers represented in the UK scene.
By establishing myself in London, I hope to:
✔ Bring Asian perspectives into UK contemporary dance
✔ Collaborate with local artists to create new cross-cultural works
✔ Share Taiwanese movement, values, and identity on global stages
✔ Build workshops & community projects connecting Asia and Europe
✔ Inspire younger Asian artists who dream of performing abroad
Your contribution is not just helping me —
It helps an Asian artistic voice be seen and heard in a global dance community.
Why Your Help Matters
Every donation, whether £5 or £500, helps me stay in the city where I can grow, create, and share my work.
If you can’t donate, sharing this page already means the world to me.
Thank you for believing in this journey.
Thank you for helping an Asian artist build a home in London.
I hope to one day invite you to see my work on stage.
— Jay
