Hi, we’re Sarah and Josh. We’re about to meet our baby much sooner than expected, and while I’m in the hospital and our baby in the NICU, we want to be there as much as possible. Any support — even just sharing — means the world to us.

We never imagined we would be writing something like this.

After ongoing complications in my pregnancy, we’ve recently been told that our baby will need to be delivered before 28 weeks (Mid to end of April).

Our baby is measuring very small (currently 2nd percentile) and has been diagnosed with IUGR, and with everything going on with my pregnancy, including severe early onset preeclampsia and placental insufficiency, it’s becoming clear that we’ll be meeting our baby much sooner than we ever expected.

Everything has changed very quickly, and we’re now trying to prepare for something we never expected — Sarah’s hospital stay and having a severely premature baby who will need intensive care from the moment they arrive.

Our baby will be taken straight to the NICU, where they will likely stay for a long and uncertain period of time. As parents, all we want is to be there — every day, as much as possible — through every step, every setback, and every small win.

Alongside the emotional weight of this, there are also the practical realities we didn’t see coming. Daily hospital parking, food, travel & hotel costs, and potential future household adjustments will quickly add up over what could be weeks or even months.

It feels incredibly hard to ask for help, but we want to be honest about what this situation looks like for us. Any support will go directly towards helping us stay close to our baby during their NICU journey, as well as any medical purchases along the way without the added stress of financial pressure.
