A Sudden, Life-Altering Diagnosis

On September 24th, My beloved brother, Eddie—just 24 years old and seemingly in good health—was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis that turned all of our lives upside down: stage 4 liver cirrhosis.

Eddie has always been the most loving, joyful, and generous soul you could ever meet. No one could have seen this coming.

What’s Happening Now

Since being admitted, Eddie has undergone over 10 invasive procedures. Doctors have already removed over 8 large liters of fluid from his abdomen just so they could see his liver on imaging. He’s also dealing with severe jaundice and extreme ascites (fluid buildup in the abdomen), both signs of how serious his condition has become.

Just this morning, Eddie underwent a liver biopsy to determine the exact cause of his liver failure.

The prognosis is clear: Eddie needs a full liver transplant to survive and will be added to the transplant list.

Why We’re Asking for Help

Eddie and his wife were just starting their life together, newly married and full of plans. Instead, they’re facing hospital stays, invasive procedures, and the terrifying uncertainty of transplant lists and recovery timelines.

They have both missed over a week of work already, and the truth is, we don’t know what the coming weeks or months will bring. Between medical expenses, loss of income, housing, and travel to specialty centers, the financial strain is enormous.
