A Strong Highlands Heart for Coach Steve

Our beloved Coach Steve Hott is scheduled to have a quintuple by-pass heart surgery in just two weeks time. Steve’s open heart surgery will come with physical and emotional stress and he and his wife Michelle will suffer financial loss with time away from running his contracting business. Steve has put forth tremendous energy for our Highlands youth, and now he needs to slow down and focus on his health for the challenging months ahead. If you are able, we feel that letting him know in a tangible way that we support him and offering him financial peace will help in this emergent time of need.

Who is Coach Steve? With flaming blonde hair, a big smile, and a booming voice, Steve Hott is a mentor for many of our children as the head coach for the Highlands Hurricanes Swim Team and the Highlands School middle and varsity teams. Steve was recruited for Clemson and served as staff in college and is a passionate athlete and role model for our youth. You can find him poolside pacing up and down the lanes coaching our swimmers at least 4 nights a week, traveling to swim meets, including state and national competitions on weekends, keeping up with everyone’s times, and all while being self-employed. This unwavering commitment makes him a year-round coach with many hours volunteering, yet he still finds time to attend our children’s theater and events in other sports. Yes, Steve keeps up with all of it!

But sometimes even the tireless people like Coach Steve need rest and time to heal.
