Our brother and friend, Remy Carreiro (the man, the myth, and the macabre legend!) had a massive stroke Sunday night. He's been in the hospital for the last week, is paralyzed on his left side, and still has brain swelling. He can speak, but also lost some vision in his left eye.

Given this emergency situation, Remy will be out of work and in rehab for the foreseeable future. He needs help paying for his medical and rehab expenses in addition to helping his mom keep the lights on and a roof over her head.

What the hell happened?

Remy collapsed at his apartment Monday in front of his mother (for whom he is the sole caregiver) and was temporarily paralyzed. His mom called 911, and his sister, aunt, and uncle came to the house to assist. He was rushed to a Providence Hospital for emergency surgery to remove a blood clot. The surgery was initially successful, but the clot came back and is now (because of a delicate arterial tear) inoperable. He's still at the hospital almost a week later under constant supervision for brain swelling. His family is hoping to get into a rehab facility as soon as possible.
