Update June 6

We’re happy to share that Logan is finally back at the bowling alley and continuing to make progress in his recovery journey.

While he’s come a long way, he still has a long road ahead. Before doctors can perform the surgery needed to permanently repair his knee, he must remain off antibiotics for a full year. It’s a waiting game, but each step forward is getting him closer to that goal.

Going forward, all of Logan’s doctors and specialist appointments will be in Vancouver, which will help streamline his care and recovery.

There’s also a very good chance Logan will finally be coming home in the middle of June! To prepare for his return, the house has been rearranged and modified to better accommodate his needs, including changes to his bedroom setup, stairs, and bathroom equipment to ensure he is as comfortable and safe as possible.

Logan continues to regain mobility and strength every day. He’s making steady progress, but there is still work to do. We are incredibly proud of how hard he has worked and grateful for all the support, encouragement, and well wishes he continues to receive.

Thank you for continuing to cheer him on as he works toward the next chapter of his recovery.

Thank you everyone for the ongoing support. Logan is getting better everyday. The infection is gone and his leg and knee are healing from its damage. Logan has some skin graft surgery next week and then we are on the healing & rehab journey. We will continue to be at BCCH for some time as he goes through that. Once the leg has healed we will start discussions on surgeries to repair the damage done by the infection. Logan is in good spirits and celebrating the daily wins one day at a time.

Thank you all again for all the continued support on this long journey. Logan is a fighter and we couldn’t be more proud of him.

He had some Clown visitors yesterday that made him laugh. He may have been laughing at them not with them but they still put a smile on his face.— Mike & Melissa Melin

** UPDATE AS OF MARCH 19**
Update: Logan is starting to get his appetite back and is eating 3 meals a day The infection is looking better each time he goes in for a flush and the surgeons are so impressed with his progress. He is a fighter!! Surgery #9 is scheduled for Monday for another flush. His team is working on figuring out the best pain control strategy and they are hoping we can graduate up the ward from the PICU in the next couple days.

Thank you for all the texts, messages and support to us all. It all means so much to Logan and our family - Melissa Melin

** UPDATE as of March 13 **
We wanted to share an update on Logan and thank everyone who has continued to support him and our family during this incredibly difficult time.

Since his first surgery on February 27, Logan has now undergone 7 surgeries and has required 8 blood transfusions. It has been an exhausting and emotional journey, but Logan continues to fight with incredible strength every single day.

The doctors have let us know that this is still going to be a long road ahead. For the next little while, Logan will need to undergo two surgeries each week as they continue working to control the infection and help his body heal.

Our family is taking things one day at a time, staying hopeful and leaning on the love and support from everyone around us. Your prayers, messages, donations, and encouragement mean more than we can put into words. They are helping us get through the hardest days.

Please continue to keep Logan in your thoughts as he faces the next stages of this journey. We will keep sharing updates as we can.

Thank you all for standing beside Logan. ❤️

Logan is the kind of kid who lights up a room. If you know him, you know his passion for bowling — it’s more than just a hobby, it’s something he truly loves. Whether he’s practicing his throw, talking about his latest game, or spending time at the lanes, bowling is where Logan feels most at home.

Back in January, Logan was involved in a dirt bike accident that injured his knee. At the time, everyone hoped the damage wasn’t too severe and that surgery would help get him back on his feet and eventually back to doing the things he loves — especially bowling.

Last Friday, Logan went in for knee surgery. But once the surgeons opened his knee, they quickly realized the damage was much worse than anyone had expected. They also discovered a serious infection that had already begun causing significant damage.

Things escalated quickly, and Logan had to be airlifted to BC Children’s Hospital, where he is now receiving specialized care and fighting this nasty infection. What was supposed to be a step toward recovery has turned into a much bigger and more uncertain journey.

Right now, Logan is facing a long road ahead. There are still many unknowns about what recovery will look like, but one thing we do know is that he will need ongoing medical care, support, and time to heal.

We’re asking for help to support Logan and his family during this incredibly difficult time. Donations will help cover medical-related expenses, travel, time away from work, and the many unexpected costs that come with a long hospital stay and recovery.

Logan is strong, brave, and surrounded by people who love him deeply. We’re hopeful that with the right care, support, and a lot of determination, he’ll get back to doing what he loves most.

Thank you for supporting Logan on his road to recovery.❤️‍

If you would prefer to donate directly, e-transfer please send me a message and I will give you Melissa and Mikes email to directly send it to them

If you’re unable to donate, sharing Logan’s story and keeping him in your thoughts and prayers means the world to us. Thank you for standing with Logan as he fights through this and works toward the long road of recovery ahead.
