My name is Soheil Honarmand, I’m an art student in Art Academy Karlsruhe, and I’m about to make the most ambitious project of my life: my first short horror film. The film is in the genre Horror/Sci-fi/Erotic and will be around 30mins and will be shot from 28th June to 5th of July 2025!

This isn’t just a student film. This is the culmination of a lifelong passion for cinema and storytelling — and a deep fascination with what horror can truly be when it stops relying on clichés and starts digging into what genuinely disturbs us.

The Location: Hotel Waldlust

Nestled in the Black Forest in Germany, Hotel Waldlust is not a film set — it’s a relic.

Once a luxury destination in the early 20th century, it has since become an eerie, dust-covered, time-frozen space filled with untouched furniture, forgotten photographs, and hallways that seem to breathe.

I chose this hotel not simply as a backdrop, but as a living, breathing character—an essential vessel for the soul of the film. Once a sanctuary of warmth and elegance, it held within its walls the whispered laughter of lovers on fleeting escapes, the silent sorrows of heartbreak, the footsteps of royalty, and the musings of celebrated artists. Time has not erased these presences; it has layered them, like dust on velvet. Now abandoned, suspended between grandeur and decay, the hotel hums with ghosts—not of terror, but of memory.

Once murmured about in local legends, now it’s becoming the stage for a horror film that blends the psychological, the supernatural, and the socially taboo.

The Story: Where Fear Gets Personal

The film explores not just fear — but shame, guilt, secrecy, and buried trauma.

It is about the horrors we inherit, the ones we carry, and the ones we’re not allowed to talk about.

It’s about the things we suppress — and what happens when they come back.

This is horror that doesn’t play it safe.

It challenges, disturbs, and lingers.

Throughout the film, an evocative narration takes the main two characters through an intense sequence of poetic and surreal but often troublesome scenes. These visual and emotional landscapes confront the audience with complex sensations that evoke discomfort, desire, vulnerability, and transgression — Rather than providing clear moral answers, the film invites the viewer to reflect on their own thresholds — to question where pain ends and pleasure begins, and what lies in the shadowy territory in between.

I’m not making this film to be comfortable. I’m making it to be honest, terrifying, and unforgettable. Horror genre has always been a space for truth-telling — it’s where we confront the unspoken.

Why I Need Your Help

I'm reaching out for support because I’ve been given a rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shoot my film in Hotel Waldlust — there is a reason why very few films have been made in this hauntingly beautiful place because the people in charge of the hotel almost never allow filming there. Because it is sacred. And because convincing them was not an easy task, the permission came with very short notice. But something about this project felt destined to happen there, as if the film called the location into being. Because of this spontaneity, I haven’t had the time to go through the usual funding routes, which can take months. I’m now racing to prepare everything — from concept development to costumes and production essentials — with very limited resources and time. That’s why I’m asking for your help. Unterstütze einen gewagten neuen Horrorfilm – gedreht im legendären Hotel Waldlust.

Mein Name ist Soheil Honarmand, ich bin Kunststudent an der Kunstakademie Karlsruhe und stehe kurz davor, das bislang ambitionierteste Projekt meines Lebens zu verwirklichen: meinen ersten Horror-Kurzfilm. Der Film bewegt sich im Genre Horror/Sci-Fi/Erotik und wird ca. 30 Minuten lang sein. Drehzeitraum: 28. Juni bis 5. Juli 2025

Dies ist nicht einfach ein Studentenfilm. Es ist die Essenz meiner lebenslangen Leidenschaft für das Kino und für das Erzählen von Geschichten – und Ausdruck meiner tiefen Faszination für das, was Horror sein kann, wenn er aufhört, sich auf Klischees zu stützen, und beginnt, in das einzutauchen, was uns wirklich verstört.

Der Drehort: Hotel Waldlust

Versteckt im Schwarzwald liegt das Hotel Waldlust – kein Set, sondern ein Überbleibsel aus einer anderen Zeit.

Einst ein luxuriöses Reiseziel des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts, ist es heute ein verstaubter, eingefrorener Ort voller unberührter Möbel, vergessener Fotografien und Flure, die zu atmen scheinen.

Ich habe dieses Hotel nicht einfach als Kulisse gewählt, sondern als lebendigen, atmenden Charakter – ein Gefäß für die Seele des Films. Einst ein Ort von Wärme und Eleganz, trugen seine Wände das Flüstern flüchtiger Liebesnächte, das Schweigen zerbrochener Herzen, die Schritte von Königen und Künstlern. Die Zeit hat diese Geister nicht vertrieben – sie hat sie in Schichten abgelegt, wie Staub auf Samt. Heute, verlassen und zwischen Glanz und Verfall schwebend, summt das Hotel von Erinnerungen – nicht des Schreckens, sondern der Vergangenheit.

Was einst nur in Legenden gemunkelt wurde, wird nun zur Bühne eines Horrorfilms, der das Psychologische, das Übernatürliche und das gesellschaftlich Verdrängte miteinander verwebt.

Die Geschichte: Wenn Angst persönlich wird

Der Film geht nicht nur der Angst auf den Grund – sondern auch Scham, Schuld, Geheimnissen und vergrabenem Trauma.

Es geht um die Schrecken, die wir erben, mit uns tragen und über die wir nicht sprechen dürfen.

Es geht um das, was wir verdrängen – und was passiert, wenn es zurückkehrt.

Das ist Horror, der nicht auf Nummer sicher geht.

Er fordert heraus, verstört – und bleibt haften.

Eine eindringliche Erzählstimme führt zwei Hauptfiguren durch eine intensive Folge poetischer, surrealer, aber oft verstörender Szenen. Diese visuellen und emotionalen Räume konfrontieren das Publikum mit Empfindungen wie Unbehagen, Begehren, Verletzlichkeit und Grenzüberschreitung. Der Film gibt keine moralischen Antworten – er lädt ein, eigene Grenzen zu hinterfragen: Wo endet Schmerz, wo beginnt Lust – und was liegt dazwischen, im Schatten?

Ich mache diesen Film nicht, um bequem zu sein. Ich mache ihn, um ehrlich, furchteinflößend und unvergesslich zu sein. Der Horror war schon immer ein Ort der Wahrheit – dort, wo das Unsagbare ans Licht kommt.

Warum ich deine Hilfe brauche

Ich wende mich mit der Bitte um Unterstützung an euch, weil mir eine seltene, einmalige Gelegenheit gegeben wurde: Ich darf meinen Film im Hotel Waldlust drehen – einem Ort, an dem nur wenige Filme entstanden sind, und das aus gutem Grund. Die Verantwortlichen erlauben dort so gut wie nie Dreharbeiten, denn dieser Ort ist heilig für die Leute.

Dass ich die Erlaubnis erhalten habe, war alles andere als selbstverständlich – und sie kam mit sehr kurzer Vorlaufzeit. Doch etwas an diesem Projekt fühlte sich vorherbestimmt an, als hätte der Film diesen Ort zu sich gerufen. Aufgrund dieser Spontaneität blieb mir keine Zeit, die üblichen Förderwege zu gehen, die oft Monate dauern. Jetzt renne ich gegen die Zeit, um alles vorzubereiten – vom Konzept bis zu Kostümen und Produktion – mit sehr begrenzten Mitteln. Deshalb bitte ich um eure Hilfe. Eure Unterstützung wird helfen, diese Vision so zu verwirklichen, wie sie es verdient.
