As many of you know, I’m embarking on an exciting, slightly terrifying adventure this summer: I've written a script that I'm hoping to turn into my first feature.
RELATIVE MINOR is a New York City story about an experimental sound artist, still living off her minor fame from the 1980s, and her estranged son, Dominic. They're two wayward individuals who are bound by the same things that make love so difficult. Collette, our hero, comes to believe that the way to mend their past is to create a piece of work together. It’s a story about art, the strange bonds of family, and our inability to accept people as they truly are.
Deborah Offner will play Collette (HIGH MAINTENANCE and SHIVA BABY). Dominic will be played by Kerry Malloy (MANIFEST, THE LOWDOWN (a new series from Sterlan Harjo & Ethan Hawke). As well, we have some very exciting actors in the supporting roles. I’m over the moon with the cast that is coming together.
It’s a micro-budget production, fueled mostly by passion, borrowed gear, and the generosity of the cast, crew, and people around me. I’ve been developing the story for a long time, and I can't wait to bring it to life. But I can’t do it alone and we are officially five weeks out from the first day of filming! We have the majority of our financing in place, but need to make one final push.
