A Story of Struggle and Resilience in Times of War

My name is Israa Abdel Rahman, a journalist from Gaza. This land, my home, has been crushed under the weight of war and destruction. In recent days, I have lost so many of my loved ones in this brutal war. I lost my father, who was my everything. I lost my granddaughters, whose laughter used to brighten my life. I lost my grandparents, who had nothing but words of love and inspiration to offer. I lost my uncle, who was my friend and brother at the same time. And I lost my dear friend, who always stood by me in my hardest moments. Every passing moment of this war has been another wound to my heart.
Beyond the loss of my loved ones, I also lost my home—the place where I sought refuge from the world. My office, the source of my livelihood, was completely destroyed. And as the destruction and bloodshed surrounded me, my spirit grew weaker. As a journalist, I have always worked to bring the truth to the world, yet every day, I witness unbearable suffering—poverty, hunger, and children robbed of their freedom and dreams. Each scene of devastation and injustice weighs heavily on my soul.
I am a journalist with a strong record of excellence in my studies and work. I have always strived to be a voice for the voiceless, to report with honesty, and to show the world the truth. But this war has made my mission even harder. As I continue working, I see fathers mourning their children, mothers losing their homes, and children losing their childhoods to unimaginable injustice.
Yet, despite everything, I refuse to give up. What I lost is not just material—it is pieces of my heart and soul. But I still believe in the power of resilience. I still believe that I can rebuild my life. And now, more than ever, I need your support. I need your help to overcome this pain, to rebuild my life, and to return to my work so that I can stand on my feet again after this immense devastation.
I am also facing another painful loss—my car, which was my only means of transportation for work and daily life, was destroyed in the war. This has made even the simplest tasks, like reaching work opportunities or gathering essentials, incredibly difficult.
I ask for your help. In these dark moments, every bit of support matters. No matter how small, your contribution will help me rebuild what was destroyed. Every act of kindness will have a profound impact on my life.
I invite you to be part of my story, to help me rebuild what war has taken away. With your support, I can find hope again—for myself and for my family.
