A Story About You is the Sophomore Feature Film from Denise Yolén, Joseph E. Austin II, and Jeremy Harris.
A Story About You follows a young man’s journey of self-discovery through the most intimate relationships in his life. The story follows a man named “Wilde”; a good man that wants to be a better man but doesn’t quite know how...he is charming, enigmatic, commanding, and curiously disarming. He is someone who does not know how or when to say “when”- he’s never really had to. Still, that doesn’t make him a bad person or a “Peter Pan” stereotype. He is a person who is profoundly passionate and sensitive. He is very observant and mature in some ways, and in others, he is deeply lost. He is a lover, enthralled with life and everything around him, especially women. As Wilde moves through his week, he reaches critical moments with each of these women, eventually peeling back the layers to reveal a core truth he is in desperate search of.
The Team Behind A Story About You:
Denise Yolén is the film's Co-Producer, Writer, and Co-Star.
Why I wrote A Story About You:
In a consumerist culture that seems to thrive on dysfunction and toxicity, I found it ever more imperative to tell a story highlighting empathy and black male vulnerability. What does it look like to show grace towards a man’s imperfections and shortcomings?
What does it look like to lovingly assert boundaries? And when all is said and done, what does it look like to get another chance? I hope A Story About You can serve as a bit of balm to the contusions of the heart we all inevitably suffer from.
Jeremy Harris is the film's Co-Producer and Cinematographer.

Joseph E. Austin II is the film's Co-Producer, Director, and Editor.
I knew I had to direct A Story About You when I read the first iteration a few years ago. The words leapt off the page, and it sparked a great curiosity in me. Why haven’t I seen a film like this before? This film touches on many core issues that we deal with as a society- especially with regard to black men. Why is it so difficult to commit? That’s a question that plagues many. And while there’s no one answer-A Story About You provides an entryway into the question and takes you on a fulfilling journey as Wilde navigates his day-to-day and is forced to deal with that exact question. A Story About You is needed, and we’re here to bring it to you!
