A Stepping Stone to Chrissy Crushing Cancer

Donation protected
Fall 2021 Update: Chrissy is undergoing weekly 3 hour iron infusions in an effort to boost her immune system. Unfortunately, test results show that the iron is not being absorbed. This is also true of her covid-19 vaccines, so she has volunteered to be part of a pilot program to test for vaccine antibodies in people with incurable blood cancer. In keeping with her true spirit and selfless nature, Chrissy chose to participate in the study in the hope of saving lives and protecting future generations.

Chrissy continues her important work with Stepping Stones and recently rescued 9 puppies! While she gets tired caring for them, it gives her a focus and a purpose beyond her cancer battle. Chrissy turns 61 on Sept. 10 and is so humbled and grateful for the love and support she has felt from friends and family. Thank you for your continued prayers, good wishes, and donations.

Original post from December 2020:
As a dual citizen of the United States and England, Chrissy Stamper is full of beans (1) and a proud fan of both West Ham United and American football. She is a loving mother, devoted aunt, beloved sister and trusted neighbor. She is the caring president of Stepping Stones Canine Fosters Charity in West Virginia, saving thousands of forgotten and mistreated dogs over the past 7 years. Chrissy is living her passion to rescue animals and lovingly cares for them until they find their forever homes through adoption.

She is also in a fight for her life against an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

In April 2020, Chrissy was hospitalized for 8 days due to a life-threatening intestinal obstruction. Her emergency stay and rare complications ultimately led to the cancer diagnosis. She has been undergoing chemotherapy for 3 months and will be starting 20 radiation treatments soon.

At the time of her hospitalization, Chrissy was woefully under-insured. Coming from the UK, she did not understand the American medical system and was unfortunately sold a non-compliant policy. She now owes $102,000 for medical bills. She has qualified for new insurance to cover future treatments, but the outstanding debt has left her absolutely gutted (2).

Chrissy has always been the giver of hope and provider of joy. This is true in her personal life as well as her work at the non-profit rescue organization. She is humbled by the outpouring of love, prayers, and get well cards in the past few months. She is bloody embarrassed (3) to ask for financial assistance to reduce the mountain of debt she is facing from her hospitalization. However, Stepping Stones is a volunteer rescue group so she does not receive any income for her tireless efforts to save dogs. She is unable to secure a job due to her immunocompromised status and covid restrictions.

Chrissy looks forward to the day when she can once again fully focus her energy and resources on the rehabilitation and care of orphaned and injured canines. Right now, she just needs a stepping stone to help her crush cancer. Cheers to you, mate (4), for helping out a knackered (5) but lovely lady who is putting a lot of good out into the world.

(1) a spirited fighter
(2) devastated
(3) mortified
(4) thank you so much, friend
(5) tired
