Hello, my name is Cody Beck. I currently live in Danville, KY, with my wife and two kids and have been the only income earner for the last seven years. Yes, my wife does help when and where she can, but medical issues prevent her from holding long-term jobs.

About 2 months ago, I finally gained enough money to help her buy a car so she could have transportation for the kids while I was at work. She loved that car, but we found out it was a lemon, and so many issues were involved. The dealership, Auto Smart of Campbellsville, screwed us with a bad alignment. We went through new tires within 2 weeks and were told we were drag racing, knowing a 2011 Dodge Avenger 4-cylinder can't do all that.

So, to make it a little shorter, long-term, we are talking 3 months of having this car. We found out the control arms, the trailer arms, the shocks, and the ball bearings were all bad. Even the crankshaft sensor went out, putting us on the side of the road. All the bad parts and labor cost me a total sum of almost $5,000, causing me to miss a car payment trying to keep the car on the road.

Well, 2 weeks went by, and another car payment was due, so I made it happen. I had $360 ready to pay the lot. They killed my kill switch and left me and my daughter stranded in Louisville, KY. I called them and pleaded with them, told them I had their money, and all, just to be told the girl who controls the kill switch had left and wouldn't be back till Saturday morning. So I did what I had to do and unhooked the kill switch to get my 5-year-old home and to her bed. I plugged everything back up that night and tried to make it right on Saturday. I called them with the money, and I get told I owed them $429. I said that's impossible; my car payment is $178 every 2 weeks. He told me I have no insurance, yet I've had full coverage through Geico for over a month. He wanted proof, so I sent him it. He called me back and said, good news sir, you do indeed have full coverage, but you don't have us as the lien holder, so I still have to charge you $50. I said, could I add y'all and you waive it? He said yes, so I called Geico, had them put on as lien holder, and sent them the proof. I tried calling them just to get told he was in a meeting with some customers and that when he is done, he will call me. 2 hours went by and not a word, so I called again to be told the same story. So I stepped outside and noticed a black truck peeping up. Come to find out they lied to me and wasted my full day and repoed my car.

My wife's dad tells me we will figure something out and get your car back. He talked me into coming over late Saturday night, like 10:30-11:00 late. We sat down, talked, and everything was going good until he started bringing up issues from almost 5 years ago with him and my family, trying to say I set him up and he didn't start anything. So I defended my family and asked this man to stop screaming at me that the past is the past. He jumps out of his chair and started wailing on me like a human punching bag. I was helpless in a corner getting hit harder than I've ever been hit before in my life. By the time it was over, all I could see was blood and my left eye hanging, screaming for help as his friend grabbed ahold of my son and made him watch his grandfather do things so ungodly to me. My wife was traumatized, scared to do anything because her dad is a woman abuser and has once put her in a hospital also. He told me I had 10 seconds to get out of his house before he ended me for good, so I pushed out and got to my mom's car and then called 911. He then jumps in his truck and tried to kill me, my wife, and my kids as we were trying to leave.

I spent my whole weekend in the hospital with broken bones all through my face, including a broken nose. I had to be rushed into surgery over my eye and was told I may never be able to see again with that eye. So now I sit here a humbled man about to lose everything: my job, my house, already lost my car, and don't know where to turn. I know this may not go anywhere, but it's worth a try, and I hate asking for help. I'm running out of options. My daughter and son are both traumatized. My wife keeps replaying me screaming in her head and can't get it to stop. I called my preacher and told him, Brother Jeff, I know we are supposed to love everyone, but in my heart, I don't know if I can ever forgive him for this. I was told you forgive if they ask for forgiveness, but you don't have to let them back into your home.
