Hi friends.
We are six sisters who have been very close our whole lives. Our oldest sister, Debbie, is in year 29 of a debilitating, degenerative Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis. She has lived for the last 5 years in a nursing facility and is totally immobile and dependent on 24-hour care. She has had a significant decline this last year. Most of us live out of state (she's in MI) and only get to see her once a year or on Zoom calls, but we do all we can to help care and support her. Her husband - our dear, dear brother-in-law, has been by her side daily for the last 12 years of their marriage, and the last 5 with her residing in a nursing home and him spending the majority of his days by her side.
He lives in Albion, MI and Debbie's facility is in Bedford, MI, a 1.5 hour daily commute. For all these years, he has visited her every single day without hesitation or regard to his own health and the expense of time, money and gas, as well as wear and tear on his car(s). He's been through two. This second one has now failed him and we would like to replace his car with another decent used one, so he can continue to visit her in a safe vehicle. None of us is in a position to just buy one for him, unfortunately. He is the only daily constant in her life. We are all on limited incomes ourselves and will do what we can to provide new transportation for him, but we need to ask for some help from our friends. Debbie has endured a lifetime of unfortunate circumstances; all with a beautiful smile, attitude, sunny outlook and perseverance that is nothing less than amazing. So many people would be broken from what she's endured. The one solace she has had these last 12 years is her devoted husband, and we want to continue to support them and help them be together.
We want to buy a decent used car for our brother-in-law, and could use your help to make that happen. Nothing extravagant, just functional and safe. We want to be sure he can continue to visit Debbie and keep her company. To see them together is to witness true love no matter the circumstance.
Thank you for any help you can give us. We are so very grateful.
