A Special Book for Kids with Cataract & Amblyopia
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My 8-years-old daughter and I wrote the book "Rabbit's Special Eyes" for our little boy who was born with a cataract in one eye. We hope that this story will bring positive messages to families of children with congenital cataract and those who require patching. This book also helps to build awareness and understanding about patching therapy which is a great treatment to improve children’s vision. Everyone has differences, but that doesn't change their value.
I learnt graphic design and my daughter loves rabbits, so we decided to illustrate the book ourselves. This is a 26-pages picture book about a resilient journey of a rabbit who was born with a congenital cataract. After the cataract-removal surgery, he patched his good eye to make his bad eye stronger. He was bullied because he was different, but he learned how to handle it with grace, humour, and knowledge. With the great support of his doctor and his family, he gained back his vision and enjoyed a beautiful life just like everyone should.
We are just a small family with love and care, and we wish to return some good things and positive messages to the community that we received a lot of support from during a difficult time.
We have just got "Publishing Proposal" from "DoctorZed Publishing" in Adelaide, Australia. This will be a combination of traditional and digital publishing and will take 2-3 months to bring the book to the markets. In summary, the total publishing service pricing and fee will be around $1550, and we would appreciate if you could support us with this cost. We plan to publish the book before June 2022, which is Cataract Awareness Month, so it will be meaningful for cataract kids and their families. Suppose we receive more funding than the goal, in that case, we will use it to print free books for cataract kids and distribute them to libraries around Australia to build awareness and understanding about Cataracts, Amblyopia and Patching Therapy.
We hope you will be impressed with our story and support us in publishing this book. Thank you so much for your kindness.
Kind regards
