Leo, aged 16, is taking on a challenge no child should ever have to face.
After losing his dad, Liam, at just 36 years old, Leo has chosen to walk 36 miles in his memory— one mile for every year his father lived. Leo is now navigating life with the loss, and this walk is his way of honouring the man he has lost far too soon.
This is deeply personal to him.
It is his way of paying tribute to his father, showing his love, and ensuring his dad is honoured with the strength he deserves.
Liam proudly served in the 2nd Battalion Royal Welsh when Leo was born, and Leo carries so much of his dad with him — from his fitness and determination to the little mannerisms that remind so many people of Liam. There is so much of his father in Leo.
We have set a fundraising target of £3,600
£100 for every year Liam lived — to help towards funeral and costs and future memorials.
If any funds are raised beyond this, consideration will be given to donating in Liam’s memory to a military bereavement charity supporting children who have lost a parent in service.
This is more than a fundraiser. It is a 16-year-old son walking every mile with the weight of losing his father on his shoulders — and doing so with strength, pride, and love. We are all very proud of the boy he is, and his father most definitely was also.
Thank you to everyone who donates, shares, or supports Leo in this tribute to his dad.
