.**A Legacy of Strength: Honoring the Memory of a Brave Soldier**
Dallisa’s world has always been rooted in resilience, love, and sacrifice. For 17 years, she stood side by side with a man, Josiah, who gave everything to serve his country. He wore the uniform of a National Guardsman, a symbol of duty, bravery, and sacrifice. Yet, behind that uniform, he was also a father, and a husband.
Josiah enlisted at a young age and served his country proudly for 21 years, while 5 of those years were in active duty. He answered the call every day putting his life on the line time and time again. Through all the challenges of deployment, training, and the emotional toll of war, he came home to his family—changed, yet determined to be the father and husband they needed him to be.
Though his battles didn’t end when he returned home, Josiah never stopped trying. His struggles with PTSD were constant companions, shaping his days and his nights. He fought for his family, trying to be the brave, dependable man Dallisa and their two children—Payton, 15, and Avalyn, 11—needed, even as he wrestled with invisible scars. He worked tirelessly, providing what he could, determined to be a father figure of strength and love, despite his inner turmoil.
At just 42 years old, Josiah passed away from a heart attack. Dallisa is left to navigate life without her partner, and for 18 years, she supported him, loved him, and understood the sacrifices of living with a soldier at war, even when that war was fought in the silence of their home. As a mother, she is now faced with the unimaginable task of not only grieving the loss but also raising their two children on her own.
Without life insurance and with only limited assistance from the VA, the weight of the grief, the responsibility, and the uncertainty is overwhelming. But even in the face of all this, she stands with the same strength and determination that she has shown throughout her life with Josiah. She will continue to raise the kids with the values of courage, perseverance, and love that Josiah also instilled in them.
