A Smile for Blake
Donation protected
Many of you are familiar with Blake and his family and have followed Blake's journey. This young man has triumphed through many difficult obstacles throughout the years with the support of his family, friends, and a gigantic continuous prayer wheel.
Blake was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age 7. Surgery was performed to remove as much of the tumor as possible, followed by six weeks of radiation. The radiation did kill off the remaining part of the tumor, but also caused injury to the brain. Blake has come a long way after years of physical, occupational and speech therapy along with several setbacks (including 5 corrective knee surgeries due to his gross motor system shutting down.) But now he is faced with yet another major hurdle. Blake's brain injury caused extreme sensitivity to touch(including his mouth) and a side effect of radiation to the head is tooth decay. Blake is now in need of extensive dental work including implants, bone grafting, crowns, etc., with very minimal dental insurance coverage.
Lori and Mark have searched and researched and have finally located a specialist that can restore Blake's smile to a healthy state, but with a hefty financial commitment.
Throughout all of his tribulations, Blake has always managed to keep a happy, positive disposition so, of course, he needs to sport a smile!

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." - Leo Buscaglia
