A Sister’s “Piece” of Mind

Hi, my name is Dawn and I’m here to talk about my amazing sister Carolyne. Just over a year ago, she underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor. The recovery was difficult and longer than she had hoped or planned for. As the months of therapy rolled by, it was confirmed that the surgery had resulted in traumatic brain injury. Carolyne persisted through, accepting her new self and adapting to the changes her injury created. She has been back on the road to living life again and even switched jobs to better suit her abilities and needs.

Then, back in July of this year, she went in for a routine scan and received the news that she never wanted to hear…her tumor was back. After consulting the doctors and surgeons, she has opted to do a second brain surgery scheduled for late September of this year. Then she will start months of radiation and chemo. She will be traveling about two hours (one-way) for the surgery/radiation/chemo, which results in many hotel stays and take out meals. Due to the fact she only has been in her current workplace for only four months, she isn’t eligible for paid leave of any kind.

So I am asking for donations to help my sis with expenses from the surgery and the following months of recovery. She is a strong warrior woman, but even the strongest need support sometimes.

No donation is too small and every bit will help her through this next chapter in life.
