On November 30th, our family’s life changed forever.
My nephew David, just 24 years old, was spending his afternoon doing something simple, kind, and selfless — helping a friend move into a new apartment in downtown Minneapolis.
He had no idea how drastically his life was about to shift.
While unloading a trailer, a driver struck him with such force that it severed his left leg and crushed his right leg.
We still can’t find the words for the pain of that call — the kind that stops your breath and makes the world tilt. The only thing we could ask was, “Is he still alive?”
He is alive.
But now David faces a new reality, one that feels impossible to a young man who has always been active, adventurous, and full of life.
David is now enduring:
• Multiple surgeries
• Unimaginable physical pain
• The trauma of losing a limb at just 24
• A long hospital stay
• Endless rehabilitation
• The emotional weight of facing a future he never expected
He keeps asking questions no 24-year-old should ever have to ask:
“How am I supposed to live like this?”
“Will I walk again?”
“What happens now?”
We try to stay strong for him, but the truth is — our family is shattered. David’s life was turned upside down in seconds, all while he was simply helping someone else.
Why We’re Asking for Help
David now faces a long, difficult, and expensive road to recovery. This fundraiser will go directly toward:
• Emergency medical and trauma care
• Surgeries and follow-up treatment
• A prosthetic leg and future replacements
• Rehabilitation and physical therapy
• Mental health support
• Lost wages while he fights to recover
• Mobility equipment and home accessibility
• Transportation and long-term care needs
David has always been the person who shows up for others — the helper, the friend you can count on. Now he needs people to show up for him.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps lift a weight off his shoulders.
Every share brings more love to his journey.
Every message reminds him he still has hope.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for standing with David as he begins the hardest fight of his life.
Thank you for helping us give David a future again.
