Kind of a Lady...More of a Weirdo: A Show About Turning 30
Yes. It’s true. In spite of numerous visits to the Fountain of Youth, I’m turning 30 anyway. I am going to celebrate it by creating a one-woman show to express the joys, frustrations, and fears of both being a professionally trained musical theatre performer in New York AND a 30-year-old woman…at the same time. Because life is a celebration, right? But celebrations (especially one-woman-comedy-musical-theatre-style show celebrations) cost money to put on. Before February 6, 2020 (THE BIG DAY), I need to raise enough funds to reserve a private venue for my show, get enough great snacks and drinks for my guests, buy sheet music, pay an accompanist, rent rehearsal space, arrange for costumes, props, and the whole “shama-shama.” In return, I’m going to share some of the wisdom I’ve accrued in 30 years of life, discuss the things I’m freaked out about as well as the things that bring me joy, and bring some social justice, all while singing my face off with some of my favorite songs (because that’s how I’m coping with my own mortality). Frankly, have a lot to say on the topic of becoming a 30-year-old woman in theatre. So on February 6th 2020, I’m picking up a mic and putting all my feelings into this show. Please help me make this dream a reality by donating to my cause. Much love, Rose
Rose is turning thirty; she has a lot of opinions about it. Why thirty is the only age when you get reassurance from older people that everything is going to be okay? People saying it’s not a big deal creates the idea that turning thirty actually is worth panicking over. If it’s not a big deal, why are they making a big deal out of it not being a big deal!? Join Rose for an evening of making a big deal about something that’s allegedly not a big deal. 2 drink minimum (trust me, you’ll need it).
