*update* 100% of the funds have been received!! Thank you all SO much who have donated! Hunter, now Jasper, has recovered from surgery and has been adopted into a loving home!
This is Hunter — a 13-week-old boxer mix puppy who has already endured more than any young dog should. He arrived at the La Porte County Animal Shelter just a few days ago, severely malnourished, in pain, and with a badly broken leg.
Little Hunter had two options:
• Amputate the leg — a far more affordable route for the shelter
or
• Send him to a specialist for internal fixation with surgical rods to save the limb.
As the shelter’s volunteer on-call veterinarian, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to help animals like Hunter. I wanted to give this sweet boy the best possible chance at a normal, happy life — one where he could keep his leg. But the surgery costs nearly $3,000, which is far beyond the shelter’s budget.
I’m extremely thankful and fortunate to be in a position to help cover the cost of Hunter’s surgery. With the support of a wonderful coworker, we were able to get him in quickly, and he is now on the road to recovery, resting comfortably in a foster home.
If you would like to contribute toward Hunter’s medical bills, it would mean the world to us. And if you can’t, that’s okay too.
Please just remember that shelters operate on very limited funds, and unfortunately, many animals are not as lucky as Hunter. ❤️
