A Service Dog For Victoria and Her Children
Donation protected
Victoria is a widowed, single mother living with Cerebral Palsy. She has been part of our Widow to Widow support group here at Esther's Place for 3 years. As Mom to 2 precious kids, Josiah (9) and Abby (7), her disability impacts everything: her ability to care for herself, her children, her ability to walk, and she struggles daily with balance issues, muscle weakness, spasticity, pain, and fatigue.
She is in the process of being matched with a service dog that will be trained specifically for mobility assistance, helping her to get up when she falls, counterbalancing her as she walks, and physically helping with tasks related to her daily living.
The dog will be an asset, an assistant, and a companion that will help her to maintain her independence and allow her to give her kids a full life that she will be better able to participate in, all while providing a sense of security and protection to the whole family. The type of assistance the dog will be able to offer will preserve her energy, help protect her from injury, and will lessen the ongoing overuse and misuse of her body caused by her condition.
Funds raised will offset the cost of the dog, its specialized training, and the initial needs that come with welcoming a dog into the home.
Thank you for considering supporting this endeavor, as we hope to help ease some of Victoria’s load and help her overcome some of the challenges she faces as a widowed mom with a disability.
