Service dog co-training for Noraa!
Donation protected
Our friend/daughter/sister, Noraa, is an amazing, incredible part of our lives. She has been battling the dragons of depression and anxiety for a long time. Overcoming these dragons is a daily challenge. A psychiatric service dog is part of the support system that Noraa and her family are working to put in place to help her recover and manage her mental health.
Noraa’s care team recommended a psychiatric service dog that will be by her side in all situations to help her cope with attacks of anxiety or depression, signal or call for help when she needs it, remind her to take medications, and support her on her journey toward mental health. Noraa has been accepted into a 15-week training program at Buckeye Service Dogs' co-training program this March. Normally, the cost of training a service dog can be as much as $40,000. Because this is a co-training program and the family can travel to Columbus without boarding the service dog during the training period, the cost for training is $7,500 plus weekly travel expenses.
Noraa also needs a dog to train. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (CKCS) are known to be amazing psychiatric service dogs and we are reaching out to breeders to help find the perfect CKCS to be her service animal. We are setting our fundraising goal at $12,500 in the hopes that we can help her cover the $7,500 for the co-training course, $2,000-2,500 for a CKCS from a reputable breeder, and $2,500 to help cover the cost of transportation to and from Columbus for the co-training course.
Help us get started covering the cost of Noraa’s service dog and the co-training course they will take together. Having a working service animal could make a huge difference in the whole family’s life, bringing them comfort and peace of mind. Let's help them start their new story together on the right paw!
