A Service Dog for Joy...Shanti is Gone
My fiancé Joy lost her beloved service dog Shanti this morning. If you had I ever had the chance to meet Joy, you most likely met Shanti as well, as they were almost always together. Shanti was more than a family member and companion, she was also the one thing that allowed Joy to reconnect to the world following a tragic and brutal incident that had occurred to her in her mid- 20’s. Suffering severe PTSD as a result of that incident, Joy was left psychologically traumatized to such a degree that she would become physically incapacitated with anxiety in situations that would otherwise be normal everyday situations for you and I. Shanti was there to keep her anxiety down and allow to do all the simple things in life that we all take for granted.
With Shanti’s passing Joy is feeling such a deep emptiness and loss. This is coupled with the fear that all those difficulties that she once had would return without having her medical alert dog by her side. I would like to help her get a new dog and the proper training to get her certified as a medical service dog like Shanti was. The training alone costs over $2000. Both of us have been unable to work and will continue to not be able to work until the Rest in Place order is lifted in LA County. We hope this will be soon.
I know that so many of you are experiencing the same hardships as we are and I feel a little embarrassed to even reach out to ask for help.
Joy and Shanti have shared so much love and healing energy with others. If Joy and Shanti have given any meaning to your life, I’m asking your help to support her in this time of need...so that she might have the financial resources to get another dog and get it service animal certified so that she can go on living an otherwise normal and healthy life.
Thank you for your support
