My name is Amber Waters and I attend church with Eleanor Kidder and we have adopted her and her family and they mean so much to us . We would love nothing more than to help Eleanor to get a Service dog. It would allow her to live a more independent life because life has been a struggle since day one.
I had Chrissy her mother write a little about her and all that is going on and why she needs a service animal.
As a single Mom, I'm all she has to advocate on her behalf. I will do whatever I can to make sure she has what she needs. Especially to make her life easier.
Eleanor has clinically died 3 times. I was told she was never to walk or talk. But God had different plans!!! She not only walks and talks, she's also a smart little cookie. Eleanor was also born with an immature brain stem and an esophagus. I was told almost 2 years ago that she wouldn't be able to learn or grow anymore. But God had different plans!! She was born with her arms and legs turn inward and her hips outward. That was all due to her having Cerebal Palsy. She has bad migraines quite often. She has worn braces on her legs almost all of her life and been in physical therapy most of her life as well. Occupational and Speech therapy also when she was younger. She has a passion for singing (especially for the Lord) and playing her fiddle. With all her breathing problems, singing is tough, but she won't give up. My girl is a fighter!!
Eleanor has tremors and seizures to deal with at the young age of 10. And if that isn't enough, she also has Vasovagal syncope where she blacks out and goes down. When she blacks out, it's just like with her seizures, she can not always tell when they are coming on. Last year at school, when she would black out, she fell and hit her head hard, many times. On the bathroom floor, the sink, stall door, and her desk. She had multiple concussions last year. Eleanor also suffers from extreme anxiety and depression. Her dog will also be able to keep her calm during an anxiety attack and soothe her so her brain can redirect itself. The prayer is that her dog will alert her before she has a seizure or blacks out. That way, she can get in a safe position so as not to harm herself, and keep her from falling down. Her dog could also help her take control of her tremors along with alerting for seizures.
I know this is a lot, however, I could keep going. Her life has never been easy. She may not be as fast as the other kids and do everything exactly like they do, but she has always learned to compensate for what she couldn't do. She never ever gives up she just keeps on going.
I always say, "When I grow up I want to be just like my daughter."
Thank you for your time and God Bless you all.
