It can happen in a blink of the eye. The morning of September 9, 2025 changed our lives. Our normal routine starts with me getting up first, around 5:15, to grab me a cup of coffee and go read my word in the garage for the morning and wait for my husband Bedell to get ready for work. He usually comes out the door around 6:00, jumps in his truck and heads to work. Not that morning...when I realized a few minutes had passed and he hadn't gotten outside, I went in to see what was his hold up. Maybe looking for his wallet or keys. There he was stumbling around near the back door. What are you doing B? You're going to be late for work and I got to jump in the shower myself. His response was nothing but mumbling. Confused, my response was "stop playing around", thinking that he was trying to come up with an excuse on how to get out of going to work. I grabbed this 6'2", 260lb man by the waist in an attempt to get him to the bed. Do you want to go to the hospital? hoping that by saying that would make him snap out of it and actually talk to me. He didn't, he kept mumbling. I needed help to get him to the car so I could rush him to the hospital so I called my son, but he was already at work. I can do this and get him to the car myself, so I thought. That wasn't the case. By the time we made it to the kitchen, he sprawled to the floor. Immediately I called 911. It felt like forever for them to get there. They loaded him up after checking him out and then told me to wait a couple of minutes and head to the hospital myself. By the time I got there they had determined that he had a stroke and bleeding of the brain. Whaaat??? You mean to tell me that my husband who doesn't smoke, doesn't have high blood pressure, or doesn't have diabetes has had a stroke? It was critical and they told me he needs to be air-lifted to the hospital in Atlanta. Needless to say I had to agree...it tore my heart up to watch the helicopter gear up to take off. At that moment I didn't know what to expect. Will they make it on time, will he be safe in the helicopter, will I ever see him again. My mind was all over the place. Our Niece knew this and she dropped what she was doing and without a second thought, got me to Atlanta. By the Grace of God, he didn't need surgery, but was informed by the doctor that he has Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy which is a condition in which proteins called amyloid build up on the walls of the arteries in the brain. CAA causes bleeding into the brain (hemorrhagic stroke) and dementia and there is no definitive cure for it. His dominant right side was impacted causing him to loose the ability to use his right arm and leg and he became non-verbal. If anybody knows Bedell, they know he is a talker and can make a friend with any and everyone. To say the least, his recovery will be a long process, per the doctors and therapists, which of course means he will be unable to work.

We're at day 27, and he finally gets to come home tomorrow Oct 6th. Still unable to use his right arm, but with support, he can move his right leg a little. His speech is slowly improving. I was excited to finally understand him say my name this past Thursday because I hadn't heard him say it since the day before all this happened.

Bedell is a known man of God, spiritually reborn and set apart by God. As bleak as it may look, I know there's a blessing in it. We ask that you all keep us in your prayers. Be Blessed...Thank You!
