A Second Chance at Life: Kevin’s Cancer Fight

Donation protected
My name is Kevin Tabor and I’m 29 years young. Life has taken a devastating turn that I could never have prepared for... On November 1st, I was diagnosed with Stage 3B colon cancer. This news has shattered me, especially after enduring months of crippling pain and uncertainty. Now, I face even more pain and suffering before I can hope to be pain-free and feel normal again.

The past five years have been incredibly challenging for me. In 2019, I was involved in an incident at a chemical refinery, and just this past September, I was rear-ended in a car accident. Weeks later, I discovered the true source of the pain and suffering that I’ve been enduring since early April—a cancerous fast-growing 8 cm mass in my colon. The cancer has already spread beyond the colon walls and into nearby lymph nodes. My oncologist is deeply concerned about how rapidly it’s progressing and fears it could advance to Stage 4 if treatment doesn’t begin immediately.

The treatment plan is both urgent and critical: Folfox chemotherapy. Each treatment costs $7,505.10, and I need eight treatments, which include one infusion followed by a pump for three days every two weeks. In addition, I require weekly iron infusions to address my dangerously low iron levels that were caused by the significant bleeding from the mass. Surgery isn’t an option yet due to the location of the mass, but I’m hopeful that, with a few treatments and radiation spot treatment, surgery will become possible.

Unfortunately, my current insurance plan won’t cover these costs until January 1st, when my new plan goes into effect. Even then, it will only pay for 60% of the treatments, leaving me with the impossible task of covering the majority of these expenses on my own. Most of my family lives far away in New Mexico, and my only nearby relative, my stepdad, is unable to provide financial support. My significant other is doing everything she can to help, but together, we can’t afford even a single treatment.
Every day that I go without starting chemotherapy allows the cancer to spread further, and I am terrified of what that means for my future. There is so much I still want to do, to learn, to experience—so much life I still want to live.

If you can, I am sincerely asking for your help. Any amount you can donate will make a meaningful difference and bring me closer to reaching my goal. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story. I genuinely appreciate your time, kindness, generosity, and support.
