A Second Chance at a Kidney Transplant for my Dad

Hello, my name is Ese Oguma, and I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart and a deep sense of hope. I am a student-athlete at Iowa Western College, pursuing my dreams in the United States, but there is a battle I have been fighting back in Nigeria, and I need your support.

The Battle: In 2020, my father was diagnosed with stage four kidney failure and was immediately placed on Dialysis which took every penny we had, because it was so expensive for us. In 2021, I took a leap of faith and started a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for my father's kidney transplant.

We did not reach our desired goal back then, but the contributions we received were used to sustain his dialysis treatments for an extended period. Those treatments bought my family valuable time, and we are immensely grateful for your support.

A Lingering Crisis: Today, I find myself once again in a position where I must turn to the kindness of strangers. My dad's health has taken a turn for the worse, and I can no longer bear the weight of this burden alone. I work tirelessly at my on-campus job, sending every hard-earned dollar back to Nigeria to help cover his dialysis and medication expenses. My mum who has been by his side this whole time has been a strong motivation for my dad despite her own health issues.

Now, we are facing a critical juncture. We have a kidney donor—a beacon of hope in our journey to save my father's life. We have consulted with medical professionals, and they have advised that the time for the transplant is NOW.

Our Request: Today, I humbly reach out to you, once again, for your support. We are seeking to raise $25,000 to cover the costs of the kidney transplant, including medical procedures, post-operative care, and associated expenses.
