This December is the 9th anniversary of my mom's passing. I feel compelled to mark this in some way—something that expresses how even though she is no longer physically with us, her energy continues to impact us, or as my cousin Adam says, "she is."

The Ruskin Group Theatre is building a new theater space, and as a fundraiser, you can buy a theater seat and name it. The name of your choice will be engraved on a plaque and affixed to the seat. I would love for one of those seats to say, Karen Landry Mulkey.

My whole family has worked at one time or another for the Ruskin Group Theatre. My mom directed, wrote, taught, and acted there. RGT also produced her last play, Coming Home. She was incredible in it, alongside my father. I know that I will end up directing shows in the new space, and nothing would be more meaningful than sitting in a seat that is hers, feeling her as I work.

The cost of a seat is $3500. If we all pitch in a little, we can make this happen together—which would be even more meaningful.
