A season of Albino Squirrel!
Donation protected
As Albino Squirrel Productions proudly enters its ninth year of producing entertaining, quality theatre in the Twin Cities, we have decided that now’s the time to go full time. That’s right: year-round, top shelf productions hitting the same highs you’ve come to expect from Albino Squirrel. We tell stories of the highs and lows of the human experience, from daily struggles to everyday heroes triumphing over adversity, of historical icons like Paul Wellstone and Pocahontas, along with more topical pop culture touchstones like Super Mario and Doug Funnie, who still challenge injustice while offering a familiar face.
Nearly all of our shows have been produced as a part of the Minnesota Fringe Festival, who we’re still happy to support and hope to continue to be involved with, but we feel the time has come for us to branch out. To that end, we have over a FULL YEAR of Albino Squirrel shows planned, and need your help to make it all happen.
As you might imagine, the cost of running a theatre company year-round is incredibly high, and oftentimes prohibitive, especially to smaller outfits. We need funding to secure performance space, rehearsal space, audition space, props, costumes, set pieces and other equipment, and of course, compensating our performers and crew fairly for their time and resources. Many of these expenses will be covered by box office sales, but obviously this is not something we can completely count on, and not money we can spend before we’ve sold a single ticket.
That is why we are setting our initial goal at $2,000. This would provide some valuable seed money to cover upfront costs to our venue partner at the Phoenix Theater, as well as meeting production needs such as costumes, props, set pieces, etc. without depending on our cast and crew to cover these out of pocket. Our hope is that these expenses are covered from the outset so all of our company members can be fairly compensated from our box office receipts, without needing to cut into our grosses to cover reimbursement.
The following is our (tentatively) intended schedule for Albino Squirrel:
Spring 2024 - MNtendo Live: A Super Legendary Double Feature ("It's-a-Me: A Musical!" and "Hero of Fringe: Master Quest")
Summer 2024 - TBA
Fall 2024 - Wellstone: A Minnesotan Musical
If you’ve been a patron of ours for sometime, some of these titles may sound familiar to you! Several of these shows are full-length remounts of some of our Fringe classics. With our own venues and ticketing options, we will have the flexibility to tell these stories in the best format possible.
At this time, we are humbly asking for donations of any amount to help us achieve our goal. We are appreciative of any contribution and intend to pay it forward. By donating to our GoFundMe, you will gain access to exclusive presale opportunities, consistent updates on our upcoming projects, personal shout-outs in our programs and social media, and more to come in the future. But ultimately, by getting in on the ground floor, you will help us give back to a community that has served us so well over these last eight years, and that we hope to continue to serve by many more years and building something truly magical.
Thank you all for your time and your support. We hope to see you at the opening of MNtendo Live!
