A School Counselor’s Fight For Life

On December 9th our lives changed in a way that we couldn’t have imagined. Lacette (featured above), my sister, had been complaining of struggling to breathe that day. 22 years ago Lacette had a kidney and pancreas transplant and daily takes medicines to suppress her immune system so that her body does not reject her organs. As a Middle School Counselor, she figured she had caught a bad cold. Sad to say, she caught influenza A and it immediately turned into pneumonia.

She was taken away by the paramedics on December 9th and by the time they took her away she was not responsive.

Since that day she has been on a ventilator. She has her eyes open at times, however she does not respond. We are seeking assistance with paying her bills because she has no sick time remaining.

We are unsure how long she will be in this predicament, however we are trying to make arrangements to cover her obligations. We are hopeful for a quick recovery but we are also aware of what we are dealing with. Because of the length of time she has been in this predicament once she begins to show cognitive responses she will have to learn to walk and have therapy for her motor functioning. We have a long road ahead. Any little bit will help as we stand in faith for her healing.
