HELP US GET A SAFE VAN FOR CARLI ❤️

Hi everyone,

My name is Dawn Cheyenne, and I am a single mom raising three amazing children: my twins, Dustin and Ember, and my youngest daughter, Carli.

When Carli was born, I thought she was just like any other baby. As the months passed, I started noticing things weren’t quite right. Tummy time was difficult for her. She wasn’t getting stronger like other babies her age. I kept searching for answers and advocating for her.

After countless appointments, tests, hospital stays, MRIs, genetic testing, and months of waiting, we finally received a diagnosis that changed our lives forever.

Carli has LMNA-related congenital muscular dystrophy, a rare genetic disease that causes severe muscle weakness. There is currently no cure.

Since her diagnosis, our lives have revolved around therapies, specialists, medical equipment, and doing everything possible to help her maintain her strength and mobility. Carli attends therapy Monday through Friday, both in our home and in clinics. She is followed by specialists at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and uses braces, a wheelchair, a stander, adaptive equipment, and respiratory support equipment to help her every day.

Despite everything she faces, Carli is one of the happiest little girls you will ever meet. She loves music, makeup, coloring, laughing with her brother and sister, and making friends everywhere she goes. She wakes up every day with a smile and continues to amaze me with her strength and determination.

As a single mom, I carry this journey largely on my own. I manage therapies, medical appointments, equipment deliveries, insurance, school for the twins, and all of Carli’s daily care while trying to be the best mom I can be to all three of my children.

One of our biggest challenges right now is transportation.

As Carli grows, so does the amount of equipment she needs. Between her wheelchair, stander, braces, bath equipment, medical supplies, and frequent appointments, our current vehicle is becoming increasingly difficult to manage. I worry about safely lifting her, transporting her equipment, and making sure she can continue getting to the therapies and specialists that are so important for her future.

We are hoping to raise funds toward a van that will safely transport Carli and her medical equipment. A reliable van would help us get to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, therapy appointments, specialist visits, and everyday activities while giving Carli the accessibility and comfort she deserves.

This isn’t about luxury.

It’s about giving my daughter safe transportation and helping her continue to access the care she needs to thrive.
