A Safe, Peaceful Home for LULU

Donation protected
Hello, I'm LULU and I was encouraged by my incredibly kind community to make this GoFundMe to help me get into safe, reliable housing. I've been going through a lot in the last year, and if you have the time, it would mean a lot to me if you'd watch my video or read my story. If you've already watched the video or simply wish to see what the funds will be going towards, you can skip to the "My Goal" section. ♡ Thank you for being here.

Leaving My Family Home:

In the summer of 2023, I made the decision to leave an incredibly toxic household after decades of religious, mental, physical, medical and emotional abuse and neglect. I was adopted as an infant and exposed to multiple cults, unsafe, predatory adults and decades of emotional, verbal, religious and psychological abuse. I was further abused when I went to seek therapy and raised questions about why my safety and health wasn't prioritized as a child. I raised money with my Twitch community and decided to move in with my partner of 2 1/2 years.

The Move:

I was promised that it was okay for me to move down to their college apartment with them and was told that aside from my half of storage and internet costs, I was only expected to chip in where I could with my limited income, as my disability (Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome , along with others) makes working difficult. I was told that my partner's parents would continue to pay for living expenses and were happy to have me moving in.

Within hours of arriving at my new home, was told that our money for living expenses for the month had been spent, and that since my partner was at the time unwilling to get a job, I was going to have to support us for the month. I had spent the money I raised on much needed household items as our apartment was mostly unfurnished, and moving expenses and had to scramble and overwork myself to make ends meet. I then found out I had been lied to about multiple things regarding the move, including my partner not getting permission to move me in, things being rocky with their parents and major financial irresponsibility on their part. Their mother then decided to stop sending us funds for living expenses, and being the only one working, it all fell onto me. I pushed them to get employment and after a month, they were making a little doing food delivery on their bike, but fell and broke their wrist after two shifts. Their mother was willing to help while they were injured but it was incredibly stressful.

My Relationship:

While this is deeply personal, I think that it's important to include. My partner and I are no longer together, the main reason being that I found out so many things I had been lied to about, and I started to be mistreated and yelled at frequently, specifically if I was panicking or worrying about something. I also discovered that while I was in the hospital for emergency surgery in March of 2023, they had been home drinking heavily and using substances rather than trying to see me. Most recently, they put us in an incredibly tight situation when, in a bid to try to win my approval, they spent all of the money they'd made grading papers, for December's living expenses (approx. $700) on Christmas gifts, even though I had only asked for a singular item.

The Neighbors:

When I moved in, I was aware that our next door neighbors had been having issues and there was, from my understanding some screaming or yelling that could occasionally be heard from their apartment. Unfortunately, I had no idea just how bad things were. Our neighbors can be heard yelling, cursing, arguing, stomping, throwing things at the floor and in more recent weeks, throwing things at our shared walls on a daily basis. If I drop something in the night, I hear screaming on the other side of the wall that lasts 30 minutes. Myself and my ex have made multiple calls and written over a dozen emails to our leasing office, but progress on fixing this issue has been slow, and in the meantime it's incredibly triggering. Law enforcement has also been contacted, but they have said they have to witness the noise to take action. The stress from this situation has caused my anxiety attacks to return, and while I'm on medication for my night terrors, I've had breakthrough nightmares due to this being so triggering. I have PTSD and this situation has become unbearable to live next to. Over the last week I've heard the male neighbor on the phone, cursing at management talking about how he knows it's me making noise complaints and getting him citations and claiming they've done no wrong. I feel very unsafe.

My Goal:

More than anything, I'd like to move back to my hometown, so that I can regain access to my medical team and build independence in a familiar setting. My relationship with my mother is strained but civil and while I assure you I wouldn't be living with her, I would be able to see my dogs who are at her house again. Most importantly Bean, my ESA. I didn't take her with me because she's deeply bonded with her sister, Pip. She's my emotional support dog who is a light in my life.

There are some brand new low-income apartments that I'm trying my best to get into, and this GoFundMe would pay for over 6 months of rent, deposit, some home essentials I need and any extra expenses that may pop up. Utilities are included in these units and as a walker user, they're wheelchair accessible with an elevator and ground units. I'd also have access to disability services and free/$1 disability transportation around the city to get to appointments, a grocery store nearby and all of my favorite haunts, as this is the town I grew up in.

I have multiple medical issues, and my pharmacy, physical therapist, chiropractor, acupuncturist, GP, massage therapist and other medical team members are all in this area. I've spent the last few years working on getting my hEDS diagnosis and my connection with these professionals in my area is incredibly valuable to me. Being able to reconnect with them would greatly improve my quality of life, and help with my daily pain.

I'd also be able to be back in my home state, closer to my friends and my amazing therapist who I'm working with to get on disability. It's a long process that will take months to a couple of years, and this would allow me to get my footing until that's in place.

Thank you so much for reading. Every share, donation of any size and kind word you have to offer helps me so much. Please always take care of yourself and your needs first and foremost! I want us all to be well ♡

I'll be posting updates as time goes on, and talking about updates on stream on on my Twitch

Thank you!

Love always,
