Hello
We are parents to two delightful, disabled children.
Both of our children have significant and complex needs. We are fundraising to build an OT (Occupational Therapy) room at the back of our house that can accommodate the space and therapeutic equipment they need to regulate and be safe. We’re also fundraising for an accessible bathroom.
Their collective diagnoses include, but are not limited to, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, OCD traits, agoraphobic and ombrophobic traits, learning disability and early life trauma. Access to highly specialist education, and crucially, therapeutic support is very hard to access when you don’t have the money to pay for it.
What’s available in public services is patchy at best and doesn’t meet our children’s needs. Everything is a fight.
We will still navigate the web of systems that exist for children like ours. But we cannot rely on a broken system to help our children.
We’re normally the ones fundraising for other good causes whether it’s a local school library, local families in need, or an outdoor learning space or Dementia UK, Amnesty or Cancer Research but now we need your help for our family. We hate to ask, our default is just to power through and find a way as a family, but we don’t have much choice at this stage. Any donation is gratefully received.
Please note that we know some people prefer using Justgiving as there’s apparently some extra layer of verification so have put our fundraiser on there too (link below) but will be transparent and add on each platform what we raise on the other so there’s no doubling up.
Thanks for reading.
