My name is Kaydie, and for as long as I can remember, life at home has been incredibly hard. I’ve always loved animals, and over the years, I’ve become the caretaker for 13 wonderful cats—many of whom were brought home by my dad. I do everything I can to keep them safe, especially since we live on a busy road where I’ve lost too many cats to speeding cars. Despite my efforts to keep them indoors, my dad insists on letting them outside, and now he’s threatening to call the city to take them away. He even accuses me of cruelty for wanting to protect them, and it’s heartbreaking to feel so powerless when all I want is for them to be safe and happy.

I just turned 18 and am trying to build a better life for myself and my animals. I’m working hard, even picking up a second job, but my dad is threatening to leave and take the car, which would leave me with no way to get to work or find a new place to live. I’m terrified of losing everything—my home, my cats, and my chance at a fresh start. I want nothing more than to move somewhere safe with my boyfriend and my animals, where we can finally be happy and secure. The funds from this campaign will go toward getting a car, securing an apartment, and caring for my cats—whether that means building a safe catio or finding loving homes for those I can’t keep.
