A Safe and Empowered Birth: Help Fund My Midwife

Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out to you today with a deeply personal request. As I prepare to welcome my baby into the world, I’ve had to make a difficult decision. My recent experience at the hospital, where I sought help for what I feared was pre-eclampsia, left me feeling scared, disempowered, and unheard. Though it turned out I was okay, the way I was treated—hooked up to machines, given unnecessary tests, and left in the dark about what was happening to my body—made me realize that this isn't the environment where I want to bring my baby into the world.

I’ve since met with a midwife who has shown me that birth can be a beautiful, natural process, supported by trust and empowerment. She reassured me of the incredible strength my body has, and the idea that I could even catch my own baby brought me to tears. With my partner unable to be present due to immigration issues, the thought of being in a place where I am truly supported and in control means everything to me.

However, choosing to birth at a center with a midwife comes with a financial burden that I’m unable to carry on my own. While the hospital would be covered by insurance, I’ve realized that the emotional, mental, and spiritual cost of giving birth in an environment where I don’t feel supported is far too great.

That’s why I’m asking for your support. Any donation, big or small, will help me afford the midwife and birthing center where I can bring my baby into the world with the peace, strength, and empowerment.
