A Room for Wyett. This is a plea for help to fund the last steps to finish Wyett’s bedroom before school starts in August. He currently sleeps on a mattress placed on the living room floor each night. He has a corner of the dining room where he can place his Legos. He gets overstimulated easily, and the only space in the home for just him is a small hall closet that was converted to “Wyett’s Quiet Spot.” He desperately wants his bedroom back.
The Jackson family was affected by the flooding that occurred in Salem IL on April 4th, 2025. There was approximately 3 feet of water in the downstairs living area of their home. They lost everything in 2 bedrooms, a family room, a bathroom, and the utility room. While they didn’t have flood insurance, they were able to receive some relief benefits. They were put up in a hotel until their home was deemed livable. They received help to replace the water heater and service the furnace that was damaged, and a dumpster was provided by family to remove all the damaged furniture, flooring, drywall, and personal items that couldn’t be saved.
Slowly, they have been rebuilding. Mold from the water damage was treated, new electrical outlets were installed, and insulation was replaced. The next step is drywall and flooring. The rebuild has been slow because their savings are drained and they have to budget each month for each project they complete. Without help, it will take months for them to complete the rebuild. With your help, Wyett could have his bedroom back before returning to school. Please consider donating to A Room for Wyett.
