A Room for Brookelyn

Hi, some may know and some may not but Brookelyn was officially diagnosed with Autism in May of 2020 after she started with involuntary movements that resulted in hospitalization for a little over a week at AI DuPont. Since then Brookelyn has continued to struggle with these involuntary movements as well as being diagnosed with D.I.D, borderline personality disorder, anxiety, and severe depression. Her movements have been continuously without a rhyme or a reason as well as the intensity has gone from minimum to severe. If your friends with my family, you have seen we have gone as far as University of Penn trying to find answers. Today was a positive day for myself as well as Brookelyn, as we were seen by a movement disorder specialist at Christiana Care. Her diagnosis was functional movement disorder, which unfortunately is a lifelong disorder and much harder to treat then what they assumed was dystonia. What Brookelyn needs more then anything is her own space in my home on the first floor. With her stubbornness she refuses to take over anyone else’s room because then she feels guilty for making someone else give up their stuff. I have decided the best thing to do is to convert my 2 car garage into a room for her. Brookelyn more then ever needs her spot to hide when needed and a room to call her own.

Realistically, we all know, this chic bust her ass and does it on her own. Financially it’s no where in my budget however she needs her own space and most of all, she needs quiet! I am sure I’m under shooting my goal amount however anything will help to get this girl her own space!!! Thank you in advance because not only are you helping her but your helping me! Nothing worse then seeing your child struggle to breath, struggle to talk, struggle to walk! Thank God I have medical background and I’m able to keep it pushing. Not sure how but it’s what us moms have to do for our kids.
