Our baby is not so much a baby anymore. With every day, Ryan continues to grow. Although physical therapy is showing signs of improvement, he is still unable to walk or use his legs to assist in transfers.

Ryan's journey began six years ago when he wanted to be a part of this world four months premature and only weighing 1 pound at birth. Because of the severity of his 16 week prematurity, our boy developed Cerebral Palsy and Chronic Lung Disease. After being admitted to the hospital for the first 16 months of his life, we found that his condition limits his ability to perform tasks that are typical of a child his age. The most dibilitating task is walking. Without the use of his legs, we (his parents) are called upon to lift him from his wheelchair to his car seat in our vehicle. The effort it takes to execute this physically difficult task is becoming harder as time goes on.

Your donations towards our goal will assist in purchasing a handicap accessible vehicle that is more suitable for Ryan's needs. This van will not only allow the loading of Ryan into a vehicle to be easier, but will also allow the space needed for the transport of the life saving medical equipment necessary to ensure the health and safety that his condition requires. In addition, the amount of physicians and other care team members that Ryan sees (Pulmonologist, Neurologist, Cardiologist, Otolaryngologist, Rehab Medicine Specialist, Gastroenterologist, Nephrologist, Opthamologist, Orthopedist, Dietician, Primary Care Physician, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist) can be a little overwhelming in our smaller car.

Although we have attempted to make this purchase on our own, we have found that it is truely not possible without your help. Any amount that can be afforded would greatly improve our quest to get a ride for Ryan.
