A Required Step Toward My Doctorate and Global Mission

My name is Jamaya Walker, and I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Leadership in the Global Marketplace at George Fox University. I am writing to humbly request your support for a life-transforming educational and spiritual experience that I am required for October 2025: the Africa Advance in South Africa.

This mandatory trip in order to graduate is a critical component of our doctoral journey, offering a rare opportunity to engage firsthand with global leaders, explore culturally relevant leadership models, and deepen our understanding of the spiritual, economic, and political realities that shape the African continent. The total cost of the trip is $9,750 which covers airfare, lodging, meals, ground transportation, ministry engagement, and cross-cultural immersion activities.

As a single mother, full-time social worker, and doctoral student, I carry this academic pursuit with deep conviction—but also financial challenge. I am passionate about becoming a voice for the voiceless, particularly in the areas of fatherlessness, healing, and restorative leadership in underserved communities. This trip will strengthen not only my academic foundation but my global calling to lead with compassion, courage, and cultural intelligence.
